What is glass painting?
Glass painting uses transparent and semi-transparent paints directly on glass. Unlike painting on paper or canvas, the colours come alive when light passes through them, creating a bright, luminous effect inspired by stained glass.
During the workshop, you’ll learn how to use outlines to define shapes and build colour in transparent layers. You can choose from one of the prepared patterns or create your own design.
Materials & techniques
We mainly work with Pebeo Vitrea 160, a water-based glass paint designed for transparent surfaces, together with relief liners and selected Pebeo paints for opaque details and special finishes.
You’ll learn how to control the paint, create clean outlines, mix and layer colours, and experiment with transparent and opaque effects.

About the studio – Lood en Spelen
Lood en Spelen is a stained-glass studio in the centre of Delft, offering glass art, restoration work and creative workshop as well as long-term courses.
I host my glass-painting workshops here in collaboration with the studio owner: Charlotte Bakker.
It’s a relaxed and inspiring space surrounded by real stained glass, tools and works in progress — a lovely place to spend a few creative hours.
A few things before you come:
- No experience needed when join the workshop! Tracing patterns are provided, and you’re also welcome to bring your own idea.
- All standard materials are included. Optional frame or material upgrades may be available for an extra fee.
- Workshops are held in English and usually last around 2–3 hours.
- Your place is confirmed only after payment.
- Your finished artwork goes home with you. Some pieces may still need extra drying or curing time after the workshop.
- Please wear clothes suitable for painting and craft activities.
- Need to cancel? Cancellations made at least 14 days in advance are eligible for a full refund or transfer to another available date. Within 14 days, bookings are normally non-refundable.
- If you can’t attend, you may transfer your place to someone else—just let us know in advance.
